The damping feature in Bansbach’s new gas spring works regardless of position: horizontally or with the piston rod pointing upwards.
This is possible because the damping is not achieved via the nozzle, as with conventional gas springs, but is controlled by a groove in the cylinder. As a result, the damping intensity and characteristics always remain the same in every position.
The damping intensity and characteristics can also be adapted to meet customer requirements. A very smooth transition into the damping is possible and thus spares the construction additionally. Very soft and smooth damping can protect the installation point from possible damage. Damping that is independent of position is available for gas springs with a cylinder diameter of 15, 19 or 22 mm.
When designing the correct damping groove, it is very important to have information about the installation point of the spring and its functional requirements.
